Characteristics and Application of PVC/PVDC composite film in pharmaceutical packaging

1、Basic introduction to PVC/PVDC composite film

PVC/PVDC composite film(Polyvinylidene chloride) is a highly moisture-proof and oxygen-proof coating film based on pharmaceutical grade polystyrene material with different structures, such as PVC/PE/PVDC, PVC/PVDC/PE, PVC/PVDC 40G 60G, 90G, 120G  etc. PVC/PVDC coated films typically offer a coating weight of 40 g/m2 on 250 micron PVC film. It is widely used in the packaging of pharmaceutical-grade solid preparations and foods. It has excellent moisture-proof performance. The barrier film performance is 5-10 times that of PVC.

Appearance:  Flat, even and clean. No perforation. No peculiar. No odor No impurity.

Good barrier effect, can be formed by blisters, easy to heat seal.

3、Application of PVC/PVDC composite film in pharmaceutical packaging

PVC/PVDC composite film is usually used in blister packaging (such as tablets, capsules) to ensure the quality, efficacy and ease of use of pharmaceuticals. The following are its typical applications:

solid medicine

For solid drugs such as tablets and capsules, blister packaging can provide effective separation protection to prevent the drugs from being affected by air and moisture.

divided dose packaging

PVDC materials are easy to cut and can be flexibly designed into individual packages of one dose and one bubble, making it easier for patients to access during use and reducing drug waste.

Special drugs

For drugs that are sensitive to moisture and oxygen, such as antibiotics, vitamins, special capsules, etc., PVDC materials can provide excellent protection.
